There was a new event for me this year - the Goodwood Festival of Speed. What drew me like a moth to a flame was the presence of no less than five legendary fuel altereds over from the USA. This picture was taken down on the start line and I am afraid I have to report that Don Green and Ron Hope's Rat Trap misbehaved itself somewhat and refused to fire.
One doesn't have 'pits' at Goodwood, one has a paddock, in this case the Cathedral Paddock. A blockage in the fuel lines was the likely suspect so these were attended to with the help of veteran funny car team boss Nobby Hills in the red cap.
A rejuvenated Rat Trap tows down for its afternoon demonstration run in front of a large crowd.
Dave Hough's Model T bodied Nanook did gain fire and is seen burning out amongst the straw bales which line the track.
A couple of pictures of Nanook and the team in the paddock. I thought Santa Pod got crowded until I tried taking pictures there! |
